Due to an extremely disturbing and contagious case of cabin fever, a few of us got into what we thought were the best road trip snacks today at work. I love these kind of peeks into people's personal lore, it's like being in college and finding out your five roommates all have a different take on tacos and Sheppard's Pie. It's funny because my list included a bunch of crap I would never consider eating at any other time and all of it had a bit of nostalgia either from family vacations through the years or what friends have added along the way including, but not limited to:
Ranch Corn Nuts (only if EVERYONE in the car agrees to eat them OR all four windows can at least be cracked)
Chocolate Licorice-this tried and true favorite has saved me on many trips and long airplane rides when normal chocolate would have melted (especially on the Costa Rica trip).
Swedish Fish
Fig Newtons
Cheese Nips
E.L. Fudge cookies
Sour Cream & Onion Pringles-once again probably not the best flavor to pick in an enclosed space.
String Cheese
Purple Grapes
Ritz Crackers with Cheddar & Bacon Easy Cheese
Chocolate Teddy Grahams
Combos
and Nicole's homemade chocolate chip cookies (from the infamous L.A. road trip amongst other occasions)
I realized I tend to eat on the truck driver end of the spectrum when couped up in a car with my favorite people. I guess only true friendship could survive the Corn Nut experience. Honorable mentions from the conversation include Nilla Wafers, Sun Chips, a bag of chocolate chips (okay, whatever creams your Twinkie), edamame (didn't really seem travel-friendly to me), lemonade, beef jerky, pretzels, and Jelly Belly's.
What are yours?

FINALLY, I have been waiting and waiting for a post from you. And I made your blog, I feel so lucky. You forgot to mention that those chocolate chip cookies were opened by Lindsay in the back seat at 4 a.m. and were gone by the time we hit Santaquin. LOVED THAT TRIP!! You hit some of the best snacks. Here are a few of my faves:
- Hostess cupcakes
- Peanut butter Twix
- Pretzals
- 32 oz. fountian Diet Pepsi
- Mini Chips A Hoy cookies or Mini Oreos.
Just to name a few.
You aren't the only one who can eat like a truck driver while on road trips.
LOVE and MISS you.
Oh!!! I remember! Lindsay and I still laugh about that trip. I can't believe my mom even let us take Lindsay (a senior in high school at the time. Wow, where has the time gone?!?!)
I forgot to mention a 32 oz. drink, but I guess you know me well enough to know I always have one anyway :)
I miss you too!!!
